Welcome to Vertikal
Welcome to the Vertikal online manual. Learn how to use all features in detail and create your own sounds.
Vertikal captures the sound of Nils Frahm's monumental 4.5-meter (14.7 ft) vertical piano with its extraordinary dynamic range, along with the unique acoustics of Saal 3 in the historic Funkaus Berlin. The instrument's 3.9-meter (12.7 ft) strings are resonating deeply and have an extended bass response, even when played softly.
Vertikal comes with two different instrument flavors. Pure offers a warm, clear and expressive sound with a wide dynamic range, deep bass, natural resonance and a defined attack. Felt has a softer, slightly muted, intimate and mellow piano sound with a gentler felt attack and a darker, more atmospheric tone.
The Particles engine turns your performances into evolving layers of sound. As you play, tt adds clouds of notes that shift by chance within set ranges of pitch, timing, dynamics, and stereo position.
Vertikal was created in collaboration with Galaxy Instruments, who have previously partnered with us in the creation of Claire, Claire Avant, Noire, Piano Colors, Una Corda, Electric Keys, and more.
This document shows you how to install and setup Vertikal and describes all features in detail, starting with the overview.
We hope you enjoy Vertikal!
